Since 1994 we saw many changes in South Africa than before. We may say things have changed, actually yes, especially the comfortable gay and lesbian people on how they are welcome to the corporate world. We have to look things in transparency way and in globalization processes, by accepting the time and space. The government also shows how people in South Africa connect to the freedom of expression, by implementing efforts to protect the right of powerful lesbian and gay people. The confidence, positive self-esteem and their gratitude towards doing things, these qualities are important in telling us a lot about how lesbian and gay lived. In communication perspective we saw big company (ZAR), on etv in a show known as So What in (Monday,09/04/2012) at 08:30 interviewing gays for a PA job by the marketing manager Moloko Mckenzie , the Business Man Kenny Kunene defined gay people using two words as hard worker and confidence, this show paving the way for substantial change to others in attitudes towards gay people.
Things you have to do
- Show humanity (Ubuntu) and appreciation
- Supportive to embrace nature
- Social cement that glues different identity and groups who assume there is no other ways to think about reality
- Do not percieve all what you see on Drama in TV on how gays have to be treated, unless is a positive interaction
What you're taking about i saw it on Monday on e.tv on kenny kunene's show,i still dont get why he wants gay people only to be his PAs. im not against gay people but i would like to comment on the kenny's words; according to what you have written "gay people are hard workers and confident" does that mean we(as straight people) are not hard workers? no no trot thats not true he was taking the myth
ReplyDeleteis a believe from kenny , we all difer in our qualities and kenny was putting an assumption towards what he has experience before on working with the guy, secondly Mthokozi kenny is voicing his voice towards negative attitude by people.
Deletetrue they are also human biengs so i don't think it's fair for gay people to be judged and treated like they are from out of space and its good that people like kenny are willing to give them oppotunities rather than descriminating against them

ReplyDeleteMe too i am against about what Kenny said, Not only gays and lesbians are hard workers and confident,we are all hard workers. We are human beings and we deserve to be treated equally.
ReplyDeletei agree with you guys kenny was wrong about saying gays and lesbian work hard we all work hard is just he should have said they dont have jobs because most of them i judget from the outside not the inside
ReplyDeleteWell gays and lesbian is an issue to many more in Africa, Yes Marvelous Kenny said this unintentional not all gays are hard workers and confident maybe he saw few gays with confident and started to embrace them all.
ReplyDeletethank you gracemokabane, you just took the words out of my mouth. It was just the wrong choice of words that he used, if you can look at the corporate world most gays and lesbians are judged from the time they enter the door, bare in mind that maybe one has been called for an interview, the HR maybe impressed by their portfolio but then the minute they see the person behind it, its a whole new story, mainly because the HR person is against them. So Kenny was simply saying many of them are not given a chance to prove what they are capable of and for them show their full potential.
ReplyDeletebig hang you did get the point.
DeleteSouth Africa is a rainbow nation we have to appreciate that.Other countries have only one or two cultures but us as South Africans we have more, and we must respect and love other cultures.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say kenny used the wrong choice of words because different corporations are looking for different kinds of personalities, maybe gay people best have the qualities he was looking for,yes we all should be treated equally and I believe that the gay and lesbian society deserve the same respect.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very good blog, South Africans should learn to accept and accomodate one another no matter what or how we choose to represent ourselves. We are all unique in our own rights. I think Kenny Kunene is heading the right direction.
ReplyDeleteI like how Kenny Kunene views gays and lesbians, and I think his right when he says they are confident. It takes a lot of guts to stand and says this who I am and I am going to embrace it.
ReplyDeletekenny kunene was right when saying gays are hard workers, what was his point? he just wanted to put under our attention that these people they are just human beings and they can do even as much as they wish in order to achieve their goals just like the way other people do.
ReplyDeleteI have no problem with Gay and Lesbians, all they need is to be treated with dignity.Im sure you will agree with me on this.
ReplyDeleteKenny does not treat gay people with respect and that is wrong.
we have to treat people in a way we would like to be treated regardless of who they are.who are we to judge?lets appriciate one another.
