Brands increasingly are turning to social media apps as an effective way to interact with their target audience.

facebook broadcasts for Nike app in
positinig with the brand

Buiding upon the facebook's Nike+Running app is a multi-platform app that connects with your smartphone whenever you go running. This is an example of another app that uses Facebook's social aspects to give the user an interactive experience, as you can share the distances you run and receive comments and likes. Facebook has make it alive for nike brand there is even a cheer function through which your Facebook friends can even comments on your running status, how facebook has make it as a platform to broadcast and innovation to help you run on you best and this is a great example of Nike's sticking to its brand message and encouraging brand engagement for their consumers. What nike do on its strategic plan is better way to get more people running and using Nike products than by making sure your online friends all know that you are outdoor activities.

The already robust app iTunes link, which records pace, distance and run route and encourages runners to challenge themselves, was originally designed to be motivational tool for runners. The new version upsthe motivational factor with the addition of a Facebook "Cheer Me On" run setting. Nike as a big brand on its innovation runners will now find a "Get Cheers'' option that they can toggle to on during the run setup process. In so doing, Nike+GPS will post a status update to the runner's Facebook profile that reads , Cheer me on with a comment and i will get on the run , i will get on the run how Nike brand connect to thier target audince

Any comments and “Likes” posted to the Facebook thread are automatically pulled inside the app as “Cheers” so that the runner can access and view the motivational sentiments shared by their Facebook friends. On completion of the run, the app will update the Facebook thread with the runner’s distance and pace, and a thank you message to friends who posted cheers. The latest version of Nike+ for iPhone also includes a “One More PowerSong” feature, another motivational element designed to encourage runners to beat their own previously set records by running the duration of one more song. App users can also select to broadcast their run to Facebook and twitter post-workout and view their records on the application’s history screen.

Who has the top celebrity ranking in social media

Celebrate regconize the important of using social media to
connect with their fans
With social networking becoming an important part of every common man's life, even the celebrities are heading towards this field of connectivity by opening social media accounts on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. This gets them a huge fan following and in return, they get to converse with real people in real life leaving behind the artificiality they exhibit.
As a result of a huge fan following, stars have top ranks on these sites. Each site has a different celeb who ranks number one. Let's have a look at the top celebs on each of these social networking platforms.

Twitter

1Lady Gaga tops this list
2Justin Bieber
TOP CELEBRATES ON SOCIAL NETWORKS
3 Katy Perry
4 Rihanna
5 Britney Spears
6.  Shakira
7 Taylor Swift
8Kim Kardashian
9Nicki Minaj
10 Selena Gomez.

Facebook

With regards to Facebook, Eminem tops the list members. Secondly it's Rihanna with 58 229 744 fan page members, Lady Gaga comes in third. Shakira occupies the fourth position. Even after his death, Michael Jackson still has a loyal fan following of 50 357 997 people. The footballer Cristiano Ronaldo ranks sixth in this list with fan page members. Next, in seventh and eighth place, is Justin Bieber and Katy Perry, Akon and Bob Marley hold the ninth and tenth positions.

YouTube

Number one on this platform is Justin Bieber with  views. Secondly, there is Rihanna. Coming in third is Lady Gaga with a subscription views. Number four on this list is Eminen. Shakira comes in sixth position. Beyonce takes seventh place. Next is Britney Spears . The ninth and tenth positions are held by Chris Brown and Pitbull.

With the fan pages constantly growing, it would be difficult to say who will rank number one on all these sites as the numbers change on a very regular basis.
some celebrities engage in facebooking and tweeting merely to connect with fans and well…for the fun of it.  But why would celebrities bother with social media sites? What’s in it for them? A major incentive behind celebrity facebooking and tweeting is the ability to bypass the media and connect directly with fans. Social media sites offer celebs an unobstructed pipeline to share parts of their lives with fans. With social media sites, celebrities can shield themselves from vicious tabloids and distorted facts. Facebook and Twitter allow celebrities to dispel rumors about themselves and provide truthful and honest accounts of their lives

Majority of ads are now being placed online

online advertiments for American mattsess

The debate over whether online media will replace print has been going for years, but we have to consider the time and space that to be an effective company those days you need to use different medium to reach target audiences. The facts that some companies face demands when they choose to use newspapers. Looking on ABC figures there is a decline for newspapers. SA's media dynamics are unlike those anywhere else in the world. The technology has run every cent of people life and is the way of the future. Some companies have discovered this, Count the time that you spend online in whatever platform you will come across an ads, say simple DEAL.  Despite the economic challenges and the fact that the majority of ads are now being placed online, there are still hundreds of thousands of classifieds being sold in print. Once again, this highlights that high internet data costs are one of the many contributing factors in the print classifieds titles having not "died out". Companies that refuse to invest in print or that are merely discontinuing their print publications should consider the needs and buying patterns of the South African market. Looking on our society we live upon they still value print publication, because is local they can buy it and go to read at home, and pass it to someone else, also give people topics to talk about. My point is not on comparisons, is on the fact that Majority of ads are now being placed online
Important tips
The trick is to keep the online and the offline business separate while remaining transparent at all times. Optimise all the opportunities that remain in print without diluting the focus of the online team. Moreover, and the most important, keep abreast of the latest trends - especially the move towards mobility. Define your audiences by using the Public Relations Practitioner as your tool to define which medium your customers find most convenient is what you should give them. Mobile is a completely different environment from the desktop and people use it in a very particular way. Gone are the days when mobile devices were primarily used for calls. It has become a more comprehensive, inclusive platform, assuming the role personal computers did years ago. In the classified space, for example, mobile ad placements have gone from zero three years ago to 17% today, and we expect that to take off significantly in the next few years.

JUJU still get the media coverage

Julius Malema adresses the mineworkers at Gold field.
The SABC still continue to put Julius Malema on screen. According to what is happening to MArikana as Malema once place the idea of mines nationalisation during his time in ANC. The important point here is that decision on how to cover events involving expelled ANC Youth League president Julius Malema, is based on news value and not popularity, SABC acting head of news Jimi Matthews said in a report on Friday. Every publicity look for something  that consist of News coverage based on news value .There has to be a responsible attitude however Julius Malema criticise the government and in the other hand the employees support Malema. My question is how they give Julius Malema a platform to send his message, does this increase more debate to the public and how we use our perception through NUM's. In Public Relation perception message need to be  contextualised  and think about the consequences because  Lonmin [JSE:LON] has offered striking workers a R900 increase to R5 500 a month for entry-level workers, "very far" from their demand of R12 500. All our eyes watch the tragic happens at Marikana but this offer is beyong or R5 500 too less for them, or the voluntarily took by Malema encourages more problem for desperation of poor people, bear in mind that he also use SABC to send his message. The SABC has come under fire after some staff members claimed that some coverage of Malema had been pulled.Matthews defended the public broadcaster's coverage, and said they had led Tuesday evening's broadcast with Malema speaking to mineworkers at Gold Fields. He said the SABC had not broadcast Malema's address.more

Does MTN still familiarising the name?

MTN still familiarising the brand by different adverts on
television. Picture Source: www.timeslive.co.za
The MTN still becoming one man standing on positioning the organisation's  brand. According to Timeslive on 23 August 2012 "MTN SA, still reeling from the Iran cellphone scandal, is embroiled in a new bruishing battle, this time involving its legal department and a retrenched whistle blower. What draw my attention here is how MTN position their yellow brand colour on advertisement. The temperature did change once off this year August in South Africa where by we saw MTN using the Snow as their scheme contrast. Many organisation found it difficult to position themselves if there is crisis management in the organisation, the reason may be that the organisation still experiencing growing processes, but organistion like MTN have their edge. Looking the whole story of fraud which also involve its internal and external stakeholders on not doing their job in co-operative form. The MTN SA still providing their target audiences what is best, building new relationships and sustaining the name MTN,  by Familiarising the name in a continuous repetition of the name, especially in media coverage. This supportive relationship strategy or used by MTN SA on channelling their message, look how MTN top eight (Wafa Wafa) gives MTN publicity when reporters and commentators describe the competition everything is Dial, is how two way communication takes place. for more

Moving alongside of Social Media

The 'Facebook Rapist' Thabo Bester,

Putting the social media in context ,which i can agree that is the main umbrella for many organisations. So far the innovation of technology has put the world in a global village. Many organisation relies on social media to send their message without any cost.According to what i see now social media such as facebook and twitter plays an important role for example the Kaizer Chiefs twitter has seed the side story idea about their manager Bobby Motaung  on charges of fraud. In this form the twitter has put the word making the job of the public relations much easier for Kaizer Chiefs as an organisation. The credit must be given to the social media platform, even though there are some disadvantage on how people in a society use it,moving along the side look how the 'Facebook rapist' end up, breaking this into communication because he knows that most of the people love social media, he took the advantage to use it even organisations do so, to
  • To build  Brand awareness
  • To generate brand engagement
  • To influence consumer perceptions
My concern is to convert the above points to social life that social media brings to our life, the brand awareness is that people post their sexy pictures on Facebook, but moving alongside is no long for memories is to foster conservation to comment how sexy you are.look how people take video's and upload on You tube this eventually influence other people perception and decrease the chances to be seen as a professional employee in a workplace.

Companies make scenes on sports sponsorship

Sponsorship is the most venture for major companies to transmit their messages, with a different reason depend on the company mission statement and objectives. The pre-season has fall down by the wild in soccer, whereby we saw Man united came and play its part in Durban, which was brought by DHL partner with MTN .The SAB took its second journey on sponsorship properties. The campaign known as "Be the coach" went successfully from the stands, taverns or couches, social media platform (facebook and Tweet), advertisements on TV and radio to reach their target audience.Looking to communication perspective SAB also make use of mobile to interact with soccer fans to vote for their favourite players at no cost to themselves. Some companies that are involve in sponsorships properties in soccer especially in PSL even though some did not confirm their processor to renew their contract. Those Companies make scenes on sports hopefully to value informing marketing decisions and driving direct marketing
  • MTN which has currently renew their contract.

Some Afrcan music lose their way for support

SAMA Awards where artist effords are reflected.www.Sabc.co.za

In South Africa we have different kind of music such as local hippo,  kwaito , jazz,  Afro jazz, house, Masacandi  and many more, but the success of each list must be counted in terms of  its effort which is recognize during awards ceremonies. During the awards ceremonies many artist able to see how much support they have in term of voting and the most download. I think  the MTN South African Music Awards has a big change in terms of winning categories if you may look the following from the past to the current SAMA Awards, but I will look  only the records of the year
    ·         In 1999 it was Brenda Fassie (African pop)
    ·         2004 by Mzekezeke Akekho  uGogo (Kwaito)
    ·         2005 by Brown Dash for Phansi Komthunzi welanga (Kwaito again)
    ·         2006 by Ntando for Dali wami (Afro Jazz)
    ·         2007 by  Dj Sbu for Remember when it rained (house)
    ·         2008 by Dj Sdunkero for Maputo Song (house)
    ·         2009 by Rhythmic  element for 2by2  ( Urban house)
    ·         2010 by Big Nuz for Umlilo (Kwaito)
    ·         2011 by liquid deep for Fabris of the heart (house)
    ·         2012 by ZAhara for loliwe ( Afro Jazz)
I do agree that the reason house music dominate the categories is that most parties house music take the event to the top, which makes the youth vote and download, and in terms of winning the record of the year depend on the time the artist release the album for example Zahara. for more info;samusicawards.co.za

DOES POLYGAMY A CULTURE TO ZUMA

Four's a crowd: Mr Zuma poses with his three other wives (from left) Nompumelo Ntuli, Thobeka Mabhija and Sizakele Khumalo. All were at the wedding to his fourth current spouse
Since Democratisation we experience many changes than before. We live in the current era where every individual has a free will to do what he or she intended to do. Looking to the current issue of the president of the republic of South Africa Jacob Zuma, marrying a sixth wife. In South Africa is allowed to Marie more than one wife, but this practise in some societies is not accepted. The reason behind this is the increase number of diseases that surrounded South Africa from elder people to the young generation. My concern is on the president as a public figure what message he trying to share by having more than one wife, in terms of all the campaign that cover the limitation of the  HIV/AIDS. This is not a culture in this modern life, in terms of economy many wife’s and many children’s lead to poverty, and something’s may lead to poor education.
According to JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa's polygamous President Jacob  taking his long-time girlfriend Bongi Ngema as his newest bride and fourth current wife in a private ceremony at his rural home .I think the only  thing that matter in this form it may be the culture to the President, where else the wife’s are looking for the tax payers, and does the President Jacob Zuma has the crucial time to discuss idea's with his wife and children’s.

    Cultural Communication Technology

Shows the connection of information www.dshumaker4.edublogs.org

Many companies have moved from the industrial age to the new information age.  This has been a result of the introduction of technology regular used such as Mobile phone (SMS), Apple Computer (Fast internet), Apple Ipads (where we may find Companies use it alternative to sign costumers immediately for example open Bank account). Technology has been a cultural innovation to everyone in such way that it saves time for people and increase relationship between organizations and its target audiences. The new innovations has led to changes on companies than before where lot of money was spend to marketing, on sending messages to the target audience. Nowadays companies recognize the use of social media such as Facebook, Twitter and so on, on reaching target audience. This new platform of social networks is seen as new venture of communication and profitable markets that allow additional flow of background information. This has given the two integrated departments Marketing communication and Public Relations on positioning the favorable image for an organization. This does not mean that the PRP and Marketing stands for the brand but represents how the brand should look like to audiences.
    Benefits of Communication Technology
    ·         Fast to reach audience who are in different context
    ·         Save money and time
    ·         Allow flow of information with immediate feedback
    ·         Allow competition between small Business and with large Organisations
    ·         Lead to favourable relationship between organisations and its targets audiences

Transitions of gender to corporate world

show the rainbow nations of gender
                                                                                        www.huliq.com
Since 1994 we saw many changes in South Africa than before. We may say things have changed, actually yes, especially the comfortable gay and lesbian people on how they are welcome to the corporate world. We have to look things in transparency way and in globalization processes, by accepting the time and space. The government also shows how people in South Africa connect to the freedom of expression, by implementing efforts to protect the right of powerful lesbian and gay people. The confidence, positive self-esteem and their gratitude towards doing things, these qualities are important in telling us a lot about how lesbian and gay lived. In communication perspective we saw big company (ZAR), on etv in a show known as So What in (Monday,09/04/2012) at 08:30 interviewing gays for a PA job by the marketing manager Moloko Mckenzie ,  the Business Man Kenny Kunene defined gay people using two words as hard worker and confidence, this show paving the way for substantial change to others in attitudes towards gay people.

    Things you have to  do
    • Show humanity (Ubuntu) and appreciation
    • Supportive to embrace nature
    • Social cement that glues different identity and groups who assume there is no other ways to think about reality
    • Do not percieve all what you see on Drama in TV on how gays have to be treated, unless is a positive interaction

    Lets celebrate Easter with joy

    www.tabchurch.org
Good Friday is observed on the Friday before Easter Sunday. On this day Christians Honor the passion, or suffering, and death on the cross of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Many Christians spend on this day in fasting, prayer, sincere turning away in both the mind and heart, from self to God. Since the date of Good Friday is dependent on the date of Easter, it changes from year to year. Good Friday is a day of strict fasting and abstinence. Catholics who are over the age of 18 and under the age of 60 are required to fast, which means that they can eat only one complete and two smaller ones during the day, with no food in between. Catholics who are over the age of 14 are required to refrain from eating any meat, or any food made with meat on Good Friday.christianity.about.com/od/holidaytips/qt/whatisgoodfrida.htm

Good Friday is celebrated with different churches in different way, where churches meet in certain places, for example the Nazareth Baptist Church who also known as (Shembe), they usually meet at Nanda in Durban, where they gather their prayers on top of the Mountain. The Zion Christian Church (ZCC) the church headquarters are at Zion City Moria, in Limpopo province where they usually meet, the church is led by Lekganyane family. Good Friday is a wonderful day for us, there is a reson to be thankful for. His death has given us life that is renewed and blessed .So we have to bear in mind the purpose to celebrity this day, by encouraging one another the message of not drink and drive, ask yourself such question who is driving you home ?, and lets spread the words of God in this Good Friday from 6 April until its fall.

    Time to challenge Media

                                      chrisindellicati.hubpages.com

Our cultural experience are affected by the mass communication, if we may look how much time we spend on TV set for example. We tend to spend large amounts of our time in a range of media, because television has the power to recognise how we spend our time, but we have to look how its change our perception and cultural identity. How we perceive what we see on media, for instance a message that is anticipated for high culture and that is meant for low culture ( Urban versus Rural).

They are movies that define certain society for example famous movie known as Tsotsi which was based on human circumstances to overcome obstacle, but where else drama such Yizo Yizo was seen as promoting violence in some certain societies. where else do you agree with this argument, "that Media exposure to pornograph causes viewers to display specific attitude towards women.

Media is capable on making assumptions about audiences that are based on conceptual ideas of what people are like, rather than how they really are, for example look any glamour magazine and you can see what the makers of those texts think men and women should look like. Think of any advert on TV where they advertise something, notice that there is always power behind it, but people's feedback on media shown that mass media is seen as a facts of life, for example people nowadays consider something from  Internet or in a newspaper as truth, regardless of the source.

Mass media has a  persuasive power over us, Newspapers, Radio, TV can manipulate whole societies cause debate and concern. The media and mass communications have interacted and mixed with pre-exsting cultures, forms, and values. People need to acknowledge what media portray, and take media as a dissemination of information, and stick to what you belief and acknowledge unknown sources from the media before you take a step. Is not late to challenge Media perspective sooner or later it will affect us and the coming generation.www.cliffsnotes.com/study.../topicArticleId-26957,articleId-26946.ht..

Does Language barrier make many citizen and immigrants in Universities feel helpless?

                                                                   mfs-theothernews.com

Language and Communication systems are part of Culture, for example the sign of peace is used  across the world. Language difficulties impact not only information gathering, but also create barriers among people, Whereby we found English used as a tool of exchanging information in politics, business, and media, because is understood across the country. The purpose here is not to argue for or against the English language, but to show case the different barriers within students in University. As we known that University is composed of Inclusivity of diversity for example in south we have 11 official languages, but there are negative and positive impact on those language among people during interaction.
The impact of language barrier, for example where you find students who are in a three sharing room, but the two students speak same language, Wherever the other speak different language from the two he/she may  feel
. Isolated and feel like you not part of that people
.You feel stupid, seems you do not know anything
.You also become lost as well
In the other hand the positive impact of sharing same language lead to
.Sense of belonging, you feel like you are at home, and you feel like you not alone anymore.
.You feels the connection of the same culture and confidence
    .You feels also proud.
We do find English as a medium to address the nation, and this does not mean that other South African languages are not used to address the nation, they are used in small communities that speak same language or they speak different languages but they able to understand each other, for example on etv this morning on Sunrise (15/03/2012), the minister of Correctional Service, Mrs Mapisa-Nqaku addressing the two prisoners that tried to escape at the Tshwane prison in their own mother tongue (Zulu).

    Friday 9 March 2012

It is a common belief that names map out ones destiny

In African cultures naming a child map out ones destiny. In some African cultures the first-born is named after the paternal grandfather like in Zulu culture for example,if you are married. In some societies it has to do with class and status take for example the famous artist BeyoncĂ© and her husband Jay-z named their first born Blue Ivy Carter, but what does this name mean?

According to Mthokozisi Ndlovu, Second year student in PR and Communication, at the University of Johannesburg believes “that a certain name suggest a certain standing in society, or in the family tree”. In Zulu culture when a baby turns three months a special Ceremony takes place called Imbeleko (the naming ceremony), where the child is introduced to the ancestors by name. During the Ceremony the toddler’s hair is cut for the first time and a sacrifice is made to the ancestors in the form of a white goat being slaughtered. The goat gallbladder is then pierced and the bile poured into the baby, this is to indicate that the goat is the child messenger to the ancestors. A piece of the goat skin is then cut out, to form a bracelet for the child which he/she will wear until it eventually falls out.
